A "postcard" was an archaic method of messaging commonly practiced prior to the 21st century. They were usually constructed of cardboard which displayed an image on the front side much like a tablet screen, and a space to write a message on the back. Senders had to pay a small fee in the form of a "stamp" affixed to the postcard. They were then delivered to the recipient by mail carriers, and often took several days to arrive. This crude method of communication became quite popular during the 20th century, and a number of these cards still exist. Many of them are now regarded as collectible.
